I disliked this book because it was dull. i got halfway through it n i stoped reading it. it looked interesting but i was bored the setting could have been intesting but it needed something fresh and more humorous. another major reason i didnt finish was because he had 3 illigidamite (sp) children but he says hes an honorable guy which oviously he isnt cause hes got all these kids and no wife. basterd. dont like him at all. i need a guy i can fall in love with and he deff. wasnt it!!

I realize this review won’t help someone choose whether or not to read this book. This is not a romance book, but it is a good book and here is why I had to give this book 4 stars…
For being realistic when faced with the problems of family, marriage and stepchildren. I found the wisdom of Nora fascinating and the whole story fascinating. Men really do think like Hugh sometimes. They think they have the logical answers to everything and they don’t. In fact their logical decisions can backfire in their faces.
The whole idea of a man being the head of a household is unwise and this story is a great way of telling women that men and their logical thinking doesn’t always work. A partnership is much better, because neither person has the answer, but if both people put their heads together they can find the answers. Having emotional input from a woman is as important as logical input from a man and combined the right answer should come.
I think the book says a lot about how faulty religion is when it comes to obeying your husband, because if his logic is faulty, you should not listen it and should express your opinions. I think it says a lot about step families and mistakes that are all too common. I think this book says a lot about many things feminist and common mistakes men make in marriage. If you are looking for romance, it’s not here, but it’s worth the read.

Karen Hawkins latest MacLean novel Sleepless in Scotland is fun due almost solely to a spirited and smart heroine. Not quite as good as some of her other Mc Clean novels, this is still very entertaining.
Catriona Hurst must go to London to save her impetuous twin from making a fool of herself during the season. When she gets to London,. Catriona discovers her sister’s plan to hide in the Laird MacLean’s coach and force him into asking for her hand. Bent on stopping her, Catriona ends up in the coach but the man sharing it is not the Laird but his younger brother Hugh.
Hugh believes he has Catriona’s sister in his carriage and he is genuinely dismayed when he is discovered with the wrong girl. He had hoped to teach Catriona’s sister a lesson but now the tables are turned and he must pay the piper and marry Catriona to save her reputation.
The best parts of this novel are when Catriona and Hugh are ensconced in his Scottish Castle. Hugh, who has no desire to love his wife, plans to only keep Catriona in Scotland for a few months. He tells her she is not to make a permanent home.
Hugh has three daughters ranging from 15 to 6 and they are brats. They are worried about the role Catriona will play in their lives and they fear their wastrel mother will take them from their father. Between their antics and Hugh’s aloofness, Catriona has a lonely existence until she takes matters into her own hands. With her Scottish Grandmother’s help and her own resolve she sets out to change the hearts of everyone in the manor. She is plucky and good natured. How the children and Hugh cannot see it right away is amazing.
There are a few problems with the story, namely Hugh’s daughters and their real relationship to him and also Catriona’s sister seemed entirely childish and short sighted. But Catriona’s indomitable spirit more than makes up for these issues.
